Happy 2023!Yes, It’s been an eon or two since I blogged my bloggiest and I’m going to try and keep at it on a more regular basis.
I haven’t been here because I haven’t had anything to say, it’s just that what I have to say has either been said in SEARCH Magazine (https://searchmagazinenet.wordpress.com/?s=tim+reynolds) or one of the novels I’ve been working on. I also won a Silver Honourable Mention and two Honourable Mentions in the Writers of the Future Contest in 2022.
Novels? Yes, novels. Here’s a quick summary of those stories: a big sci-fi novel about toxic masculinity (currently with my agent for a critique), an urban fantasy set in an alternate modern Boston (in final edits before going to a sensitivity reader), a rom-com about fostering kittens in Toronto (being submitted to editors this week), a psychological thriller about a serial killer on the prairies (currently sitting on the desk of a major editor at a major house), a sci-fi about a thief and his cop ex-wife set in a future Earth colony (in my agent’s capable hands), a time-travel love story set in part on Mars (being plotted out), a mystery surrounding a cold case, fresh murders, and a retired West Coast bus driver (undergoing major revisions to the ending before being sent to publishers), and a rom-com about the truth in relationships, set in Las Vegas (being plotted and researched). I think that’s it. Oh, there is also a cozy mystery I’m itching to work on, but so far I just have a location and a cast list, so it’s staying shelved until I polish off a few of the above list.
So, with all those keeping my head busy, this blog got shoved to the side for a couple of years. I can’t even blame Covid, though I CAN blame Netflix, Prime, and Disney+, or at least my inability to say no to them.
I plan to blog a little each week about a few details about the research and/or writing methods I’m using for one of the works in progress. No plot details (I guard those voraciously), but tidbits and teasers.
Since I initially sat down at the computer this evening to work on the query letter for my Toronto rom-com, I’m going to sign off here and stop procrastinating on the letter.
Ciao for now.
T-Bone.
PS: the dog and cats and I are doing fine, though age is taking a toll on a few of us.
NEXT TIME: The tale of how I got kicked out of a Nevada whorehouse trying to research a novel. 😉
